The head of Clubs NSW hits back at criticism of pokies.

Anthony Ball has responded to an editorial that likens gambling in Australia to America’s “obsession with guns”.

Anthony tells Michael McLaren using poker machines are “nothing like mass murder using semi-automatic rifles”.

He says clubs provide safe gambling environments and most poker machine users gamble “within their means”.

“Some people have gambling issues…but the way to help people is not to treat everyone as a problem gambler.”
