‘A $900k increase’: Owner reveals crippling cost of energy crisis
‘Nippy’s’ is a third-generation family business that is feeling the crunch from rising electricity prices.
They’ve got 3 manufacturing sites across South Australia and their current electricity bill is $916,000 per year.
But once the current contract ends – it’s set to jump dramatically to $1.7 million.
Joint Managing Director at Nippys Ben Knispel told Ben Fordham it’s an increase of 95%.
Liberal MP Tony Pasin told Ben Fordham has raised the issue to parliament but didn’t get an answer from the PM.
“Australian manufacturers need to be careful because ultimately people will look for alternatives, which is juice and drinks from other countries because it’s too expensive here.”
