‘A very authentic person’: Former Wallabies captain defends Israel Folau
Former Wallabies captain Nick Farr-Jones has come out in support of Israel Folau.
The Rugby Union star was yesterday found to have “committed a high-level breach of the Professional Players’ Code of Conduct” after a social media post condemning homosexuals to hell.
But Nick Farr-Jones tells Ben Fordham he’s personally met with Israel Folau, who insists he never promised Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle that he wouldn’t post anything about his religious beliefs.
“After 90 minutes with Israel, I quickly discovered that there was a lot more to this story than met the eye. I found him a very authentic person.
“He actually believes, and I think reasonably so, that he’s done absolutely nothing wrong and that he never, ever promised that he wouldn’t put a post on.
“This guy thinks that he’s done this out of love for people.”
