A woman is in the hospital fighting for her life, in a critical condition, after her car and a police vehicle collided in Sydney’s south.
Just before midday today, the woman’s Mercedes and a police vehicle collided at the intersection of The Kingsway and Connels Road at Cronulla.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Walton tells Ben Fordham a critical incident investigation is now underway into the circumstances of the crash.
“Our crash investigation unit is there again independently investigating, talking to witnesses, examining the scene.”

Setting the scene as to what physically happened in the accident, Assistant Commissioner Walton says the police “highway car is travelling west on The Kingsway… and the Mercedes is making a turn from Connels Road.
“And before the Mercedes got across… the highway car has struck pretty much the centre driver’s side”
