Aboriginal waiting rooms: ‘Has the minster lost control of his department?’
Hospitals across the state are being told to consider setting set up designated Aboriginal waiting rooms in emergency departments.
NSW Health has said emergency departments need to provide culturally inclusive spaces for indigenous patients by providing them with separate waiting rooms.
Walt Secord, Shadow NSW Health Minister, says it’s a “bridge too far”.
“I understand being culturally sensitive,” he tells Ben Fordham.
“But when you have a health and hospital system that’s under enormous pressure… this is just an extra cost.
“You’re putting doctors and nurses under extra pressures.
“Has the minister lost control of his department?”
