Absolutely nuts! Drug smugglers’ $5 million haul cracked wide open
$5 million worth of pseudoephedrine has been seized by police after being found hidden in hessian sacks of desiccated coconut.
Border Force officials intercepted the shipment in Sydney, and two men have been charged with the alleged importation of a commercial quantity of drug precursor.
NSW Police Drug and Firearms Squad Commander Detective Superintendent John Watson told Jim Wilson the shipment originated in India, and would’ve been used to manufacture around 80kg of ice.
“For us it was about disruption, minimising harm to everyone … and we’re all better off for it.”
