ACCC urges motorists to shop at independents as fuel prices spike
The boss of the ACCC is urging consumers to shop at independent petrol stores to save money as prices continue to soar.
Over the long weekend, premium petrol prices hit $1.90 in some capital cities.

And it doesn’t look like price relief is on the way any time soon.
Chairman of the ACCC Rod Sims tells Luke Grant motorists should be getting their fuel from independent stores.
“The most expensive fuel at the moment you get from Coles or BP. But the independents are much cheaper.
“On average, they’re nine to 10 cents cheaper through the year.”
He says consumers can, and should, “fight back” by shopping around.
