Jim Molan ‘deeply disappointed’ in Bandt’s apology
Jim Molan responds to Greens MP Adam Bandt’s six-word apology, telling Ben Fordham he’s “deeply disappointed”.
Mr Bandt’s apology came after he was heavily criticised and threatened with defamation.
The Greens MP suggested during a Sky News interview on Wednesday the senator may have committed war crimes during the battle for Fallujah.
Senator Molan, a retired major-general who served as the chief of operations of the US-led coalition forces in Iraq, invited the Greens MP to “end the problem” and avoid legal action by making a public apology.
Mr Bandt issued a statement today stating, “I hereby apologise for those statements.”
Ben Fordham speaks with Senator Jim Molan to get his response to the apology.
“I was deeply disappointed in the apology…
“The reaction of men and women, particularly those in uniform and their families to me, indicate that Adam should really reconsider his apology given the people he’s impacted.
“I’m not accepting it.”
He tells Ben he was offended by Senator Richard Di Natale’s remarks but he’s not going to fight it.
“That’s the rough and tumble of day-to-day rhetoric.”
