Adopt a cow and help this drought-stricken farmer

A dairy farmer from Picton, on the outskirts of Sydney, is asking the public to adopt his cows.

The drought-stricken community has left Country Valley dairy farmer John Fairley unable to feed his cattle, and with no other option than to adopt out his cows.

Speaking with Alan Jones, John says the lack of rain is leaving farmers in hardship.

He said there’s been “nothing decent since March 2017”.

Donors of the adopt a cow initiative will receive a picture of their cow and will even have visiting rights.

So far, John says “it’s just gone incredibly well, probably five times better than I thought it would’ve”.
