Police have confirmed a Russian network was behind the hacking of customer data held by health insurer Medibank.

The hackers exposed health claims information and some passport numbers of international students.

AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw told Ray Hadley they will be relentless in their pursuit of the hackers.

“We are going to hold people account for the criminal offences committed against an Australian cooperation.

“We are anticipating cooperation from Russian authorities, the AFP will enforce protocols to make sure that happens.”
