Aged-care facilities spend less than $2 a meal, leaving residents malnourished
A startling report claims people living in aged-care homes are fed for less than the average return train trip.
For three meals a day, $6.08 is the average spend for aged-care residents, while $8.25 is spent on our prisoners.
Ben Fordham speaks with Ian Yates, CEO of Council on the Ageing Australia.
“Food is one of the biggest areas of complaint in residential aged-care.
“The quality agency that credits those nursing homes does check on food.
“Let me be clear, there are many providers we know that are spending well over double that.”
