Allana Ferguson calls for Women’s State of Origin schedule change
Former women’s Rugby League player and member of The Continuous Call Team Allana Ferguson believes a change to the women’s State of Origin schedule is needed to improve the quality of the game.
For the first time in its history, there are two games being played this year, but during the first match of the series question marks were raised over the quality of the clash.
Queensland defeated NSW 18-10 but given the NRLW season doesn’t begin until July, Ferguson says a change is required.
“I’m fired up with the scheduling,” Ferguson said.
“The biggest issue for me is that these women came in to play State of Origin with barely any footy under the belt.
“I thought it was an issue particularly in the first half, but throughout the game, the errors involved.
“And they weren’t under fatigue, it was just because they are not used to playing footy.”
