A man is under police guard in hospital after allegedly crashing into the Randwick Cemetery in Sydney’s eastern suburbs this morning.
At around 2.30am, emergency services were called to the cemetery on the corner of Arden Street and Malabar Road at South Coogee.
Police found a Mercedes 4WD had smashed through the gravestones, flipping and coming to rest on top of graves.
The male driver, believed to be aged in his 40s, suffered facial and abdominal injuries and allegedly returned a positive roadside breath test at the scene.
He’s been taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
