Anthony Albanese urged to stand firm against President Xi
The Prime Minister believes his meeting with the Chinese President will be constructive, but says he’s prepared to call-out bad behaviour.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is this evening to hold talks with President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali.
The Prime Minister is trying to restore about $20 billion worth of trade.
Senior Fellow at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute Peter Jennings told Joe Hildebrand Australia has been subjected to bullying and threats for years from China.
“China is only meeting us half way. They are not going to change their behaviour in the South China Sea, Taiwan and human rights violations.
“I hope Mr Albanese doesn’t roll over, we need to look after our own national interest and not feel flattered just because President Xi has decided to meet with us.”
