ANZAC Day stupidity fixed and new veterans initiative announced

After almost bungling this year’s ANZAC Day march, NSW RSL and the NSW Taxi Council have joined forces to make things right.

Last month NSW RSL announced taxis would be banned from transporting veterans in the annual march through the CBD.

Taxis were to be replaced with golf carts but after strong criticism from Ray and the community, the RSL reversed the decision.

RSL NSW President James Brown and NSW Taxi Council CEO Martin Rogers join Ray in the studio to update the situation for this year’s parade.

Mr Rogers thanked Ray for making it all possible.

“I’d just like to say thanks very much to yourself and 2GB because we wouldn’t be here without you getting involved.

“It’s great that James and the RSL allowed us to get together we had some fruitful discussions.

“Not only have we solved the ANZAC Day march but we also looked at other initiatives for the taxi industry and veterans.

“Today we’d like to announce a joint initiative… what we’d like to do now is to offer veterans the chance to work in the taxi industry.

“Any fees associated with driver training, criminal checks or ID cards, we’ll waive those at no cost for veterans.”

Mr Brown also issued a plea to those wanting to march with children in this year’s march.
