Aussie avocados heading to Thailand could affect prices here
As Australian avocado growers gain a lucrative export deal with Thailand, the ripple effects on local prices are yet to be fully understood.
Amid the current bargain prices for avocados in Australian supermarkets, local growers have been given the green light to sell their produce to Thailand – a move that could potentially alter the pricing structure at home.
However, John Tyas, CEO of Avocados Australia, is optimistic about the situation, telling Chris O’Keefe, “We’ve got a lot of trees in the ground, so there’ll be definitely no shortage of avocados for Australian consumers this year… nor in the future.”
