Aussie Olympic great weighs in on unfolding marathon controversy
Tamsyn Manou says the ongoing selection controversy over picking Australia’s marathon team for the Paris Olympics isn’t the crisis it’s being made out to be.
Six Australian women are eligible to run the marathon in Paris after making the qualifying time, but selectors can only take three runners to the Olympics.

Lisa Weightman – who was bidding to become the first Australian track and field athlete to compete in five Olympics – reportedly missed selection despite running the third quickest qualifying time.
“We are blessed with such wonderful depth and the selectors have a tough decision (on who to pick),” Manou told Shane McInnes on The Olympics Today podcast.
“With selector discretion, there’s always going to be these discussions.”
