Pre-Christmas spending is expected to exceed $51.4 billion.

Businesses around the country are spruiking their bargains as shoppers search for that last minute gift.

Australian Retailers Association Executive Director Russell Zimmerman tells Michael McLaren people are out in force.

“I’ve never seen a Christmas like it, but certainly it seems to be very buzzy out there.

“It’s certainly showing every sign of being able to do the $51.4 billion that we’ve forecast.”
