Aussie workers concerned about their futures
A majority of Australians are concerned their jobs will be taken over by robots or computers within 30 years, according to a new survey.
A Unions NSW survey of 1075 people found two-thirds agree it should be illegal for employees to be required to work unpaid overtime in jobs paying less than $100,000 annually.
A similar number of people are in favour of a “job guarantee”, where the government would provide jobs of the minimum wage for people who could not find employment in the private sector.
The survey results come after Treasurer Josh Frydenberg urged older Australians to retrain and stay in the workforce for longer.
Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey tells Steve Price ageism exists in the workplace.
“People are actually biased towards older Australians and don’t want to employ them.”
