Awareness being raised on grubby school toilets after recent discovery
There are claims some students are developing bladder infections because they are avoiding using public school toilets.
The P&C Federation has told a parliamentary inquiry the state of public school toilets is “disgraceful”, with doors and seats falling off, lights and taps not working, and decades-old grout absorbing foul odors.
Public Toilet Researcher Katherine Webber told Deborah Knight that school toilets are not “prioritised” and awareness needs to be raised.
“They are required for that access and inclusion as we know in education,” she said.
“We need to raise the profile and make sure they are maintained to a high standard.”
