Badgery’s Creek airport rail link neglects CBD

NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance says Western Sydney residents are the main priority when developing a rail link to Badgery’s Creek airport.

The $5-billion airport is expected to open in 2026 with the state government focusing on a rail link between St Marys and the airport.

But Steve Price questions why a link to the city centre would not be a priority.

“It would appear that you’re going to have to change trains, I would have thought a direct train might have been more sensible.”

Mr Constance tells Steve a future government may focus on other connections but the St Marys line is the most important.

“It is going to be built concurrently with the build of Western Sydney airport.

“Ultimately, given the need to get people from Western Sydney to the airport that’s been the first stage.”
