Barnaby Joyce defends anti-abortion robocalls
Barnaby Joyce has defended his decision to voice an anti-abortion robocall rolled out across NSW.
In the call, the former deputy prime minister claims the proposed legislation allows for abortions “for any reason right up until the day of birth”.
He’s copped widespread abuse on social media for the call, with some claiming he’s spreading misinformation.
@Barnaby_Joyce what the hell… Robo calls over decriminalisation of the basic human right to seek a medical procedure. How dare you put gender based abortions out there as a reason! There is no data to support this claim. #fuming

But Mr Joyce tells Steve Price it’s important people are educated about preventing gender selection abortions.
“People say ‘that won’t happen’. Well, it does happen!
“It’s rare for someone to throw a brick at my head, but it doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be legislation to stop someone from throwing a brick at my head.”
