Aussie director Baz Luhrmann has highlighted which film inspired him to capture the highs and lows of ‘The King of Rock & Roll’.

When asked by Deborah Knight how ‘Elvis’ captured his imagination, Baz revealed his love for the film ‘Amadeus‘ helped dramatise the life of Elvis Presley.

“I thought, isn’t this a biopic? … I’m such a fan of Amadeus,” Baz said.

The film highlights the relationship between Elvis Presley, played by Austin Butler, and his exploitative manager (Tom Hanks).

Luhrmann told Deborah Knight, that actor Austin Butler, did a fantastic job “humanising” Elvis Presley.

“Austin’s mission, which I think he has achieved beyond anyone’s expectations, is to humanise him.”

Aussie actress Olivia DeJonge has revealed how her latest film captures the spirit of ‘The King of Rock & Roll’ Elvis Presley.

The film encapsulates the highs and lows of the rockstar lifestyle, as well as the love story between Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Oliva DeJonge told Deborah Knight it was tough to fill the shoes of Priscilla in the movie.

“I think that was the interesting dynamic to play … shedding that pressure or responsibility and stripping that down.”

The Australian actress admitted that the director of the film, Baz Luhrmann perfectly captures the “backbone” of Elvis’ life.

“It was made with love and respect for Elvis and his legacy,” she said.
