‘Beginning of healing’: Jelena Dokic opens up about new memoir
The former world No. 4 in tennis, Jelena Dokic has opened up about her second memoir, Fearless.
‘Fearless’ delves into the process of healing and rebuilding one’s life after grappling with mental health challenges and trauma.
Dokic emphasised that the primary purpose of the book is to help others who are going through similar situations and destigmatise discussions surrounding the issues.
“There was so much stigma and shame associated with talking about … domestic violence, child abuse, mental health, eating disorders as well”, she said.
“And that’s what I want to change because I know what I [needed] as a survivor and what would have helped and I didn’t have that”.
