Ben Fordham challenges NSW Premier over HSC mask mandate
Ben Fordham has challenged the NSW Premier on a mask mandate for high school students ahead of HSC exams.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) have announced all Year 12 students will have to wear a mask during exams.
However, the King’s School recently indicated they would not be requiring students to have masks on school grounds.
King’s Principal Tony George told parents the recommendation from the Education Department contradicted the Public Health Order.
“That’s going to be unfair,” Ben said, “you’ll have private school kids who don’t have to wear a mask while doing the HSC, public school kids who do.”
Dominic Perrottet told Ben he has “tested” the mandate with Health but the recommendation for masks will remain.
The Premier said one of the main health issues was that “many of the exam supervisors are elderly.”
He assured Ben private schools would not be exempt.
