Ben Fordham slams Labor’s proposed changes to superannuation
Ben Fordham has slammed Labor’s proposed changes to superannuation.
Labor wants to remove a requirement for super funds to open their financial records to members.
It was legislation passed less than a year ago by former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.
This includes how much members’ money was spent on marketing, bonuses and payments to outfits connected to unions.
The Coalition made it law and one of Labor’s first plans is to rip it up.
Ben isn’t impressed due to the explanation from Treasury.
“They say their reforms are designed to ‘reduce the regulatory burden’ on funds,” Ben said.
“In other words, they have taken the side of the $3 trillion industry, super funds have been splurging money for years.
“Josh Frydenberg’s reforms in this area were excellent, it held the big guys to account.
“But his efforts are being destroyed by a Labor Government more concerned about the interests of the unions.”
