Betrayal of partying Melbourne Storm stars prompts warning for all NRL players

Sharks great Paul Gallen is pleading with NRL players to surround themselves with better company, with the Melbourne Storm finding themselves embroiled in a suspected drug scandal.

Storm stars Cameron Munster and Brandon Smith are assisting the NRL’s Integrity Unit after a video emerged showing them partying in a room with white powder.

Gal told Mark Levy if the substance is found to be cocaine and the players are found to have taken it, the consumption of illicit drugs is inexcusable.

However, the filming of the private gathering and leaking of the video to the media, presumably by friends, is also concerning.

“Rugby league players out there, you can’t put yourself in situations like this.

“It’s always the people you’re hanging out with that contribute to what goes wrong.”
