Chris Merritt, Vice President of the Rule of Law Institute of Australia, says he was originally in favour of a Voice to parliament, but disagrees with this model.

Mr Merritt told Michael McLaren that the Voice should ONLY advise parliament on Indigenous affairs, not all Australian laws.

“What we’re talking about is creating a new institution of state, that would have it’s own chapter in the constitution,” saide Mr Merritt.

“It’s meaningless for politicians to say they can restrict the voice after the referendum.”
