Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Ted O’Brien, has criticised the Labor government for their hesitancy and alleged inflation of numbers regarding the opposition’s nuclear options.

This is in response to Chris Bowen’s claims that a nuclear transition would cost $387 billion.

O’Brien has called for the minister to release the modelling related to the costs.

“What the experts are telling us is one of the cheapest ways of going about is to replace retiring coal-fired power stations with these next-generation, zero-emissions nuclear plants that leverage all of that infrastructure”, he explained.

“We need to have every energy option on the table and that includes nuclear”.
