Bomber Command veterans given final chance
Surviving veterans from Australia’s World War II Bomber Command applied for funding to attend a new international memorial in the UK.
With careers and support from the RAF, the trip is estimated to cost $200,000.
But the veterans were denied… because they were too old.
Veterans’ Affairs Minister Michael McCormack tells Alan Jones he’s overturned the decision.
“As a result of discussions… they’ll be flown to Bomber County.
“It’ll be, potentially, their last chance to be with a lot of those men.”
