Bondi lifeguard reveals struggling swimmer came ‘within seconds’ of drowning
A local swimmer is lucky to be alive after being pulled from the water at Bronte in Sydney’s east today.
A woman became caught in a 10ft swell but was spotted just in the nick of time by surf life savers.
Andrew ‘Reidy’ Reid, surf life saver and star of Bondi Rescue, was involved in the rescue and tells Ben Fordham just how close she came to death.
“I tell you what, she was probably in one of the worst situations you can be (in) at Bronte, in a good solid 10 ft south-east swell.
“She (was) just in a really bad place, it’s not somewhere you want to be.”
Reidy says she was “within seconds” of taking her last breath before two other men involved in the rescue grabbed her.
“They really put their lives on the line today,” he says.
