A shocking assault has occurred at an OzTag game in Wentworth Park, Bill Harrigan from OzTag Australia says “those blokes won’t play OzTag again”.

Update 1: NSW Police have made arrests in relation to the violent attack at an OzTag game in Wentworth Park, leading to charges against two men.

Update 2: Both men accused of OzTag assault have been denied bail.

NSW Police Force have released the following statement:

About 7.30pm on Monday (27 May 2024), emergency services were called to Wentworth Park Oval, Wentworth Park Road, Glebe, following reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command were told a group of people were playing an Oztag game when a 38-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by two other male players – yet to be formally identified – at the time of incident.

The two men left the scene before police arrived.

The 38-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition with facial injuries.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced.
