Boxing set to follow AFL’s lead in introducing vaccine mandate for fighters
The AFL has set a precedent for other sporting codes by introducing a vaccine mandate for male and female players and staff.
The mandate comes into effect from December 17 in NSW, earlier still in Victoria, after which players can be placed on the inactive list, kept on without playing or train, or agree to have their contract terminated.
Australian professional boxer Billy Dib indicated to Bill Woods the AFL’s leadership is already having a flow-on effect to other sports.
“To be quite honest with you Bill, the boxing authority actually sent out a message saying that they are going down that road.
“You’re going to have to be double-vaxxed to fight.”
