‘Boy Swallows Universe’ stage production meets ‘first big hope’ before opening night
The stage adaptation of hit Brisbane-based novel Boy Swallows Universe has hit rave reviews ahead of opening night.
Initially billed for 2020, the stage production will perform its first show on Saturday, bringing the outer Brisbane childhood of Trent Dalton to life.
Queensland Theatre Artistic Director Lee Lewis told Deborah Knight the ‘epic production’ has won over its toughest critic: Dalton himself.
“The first big hope for the play has actually already been fulfilled by having the original writer happy.
“He loved it – he’s been raving about it.
“That’s what you hope when you take someone’s story that is so personal and so rich.”
