Parramatta Coach Brad Arthur has heaped praise on Captain Clint Gutherson and compared him to Rugby League great Cameron Smith.

Gutherson has been a leader at the Eels in recent years and was again outstanding last night, scoring a try and kicking five goals in his team’s 34-4 win over Manly.

Arthur told The Continuous Call Team how valuable the star fullback is.

“I was fortunate to do my apprenticeship under the Melbourne Storm and have seen how important Cameron Smith was for Craig (Bellamy),” Arthur said.

“I feel like that’s where Clint Gutherson is for me at the moment.

“It’s like having an on-field coach.”

The Eels have now won four straight and moved into the top eight ahead of next week’s clash with The Dolphins.
