Brad Fittler declares Sam Verrills decision Judiciary’s worst since Magic Round
Sydney Roosters hooker Sam Verrills has been found guilty of a grade two careless high tackle by the NRL Judiciary, sparking an outpouring of anger from fans and commentators.
Mark Levy “let fly” on the verdict, which will sideline the Rooster for two matches, as “one of the most laughable decisions they’ve ever made”.
“It’s further proof the entire match review and judiciary process needs to be blown up and overhauled.”
NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler agreed the incident did not seem to constitute a careless tackle, and added his voice to calls to change the system by “tak[ing] the lawyers out”.
“I find it hard to fathom that you can get two weeks for standing still.
“I haven’t seen that many [verdicts] which have been that confusing, like this one.
“This is most probably the worst one since the middle of the season with the crackdown in Magic Round.”
