Brad Fittler QUITS as NSW Origin coach
Brad Fittler will not be returning to coach the NSW Blues for the 2024 State of Origin, as he quits the role just a day after confirming talks.
Fittler had been under immense scrutiny after another State of Origin series loss, despite restoring some state pride in the third game. Fittler told Mark Levy on Wide World of Sports yesterday he was still having talks.
NSWRL offered “Freddy” a contract for 2024, but said it respects Fittler’s decision to turn down the deal in a statement.
“The Board understands and respects his decision,” Conlon said.
“Freddy was a legend as a player and returned to coach the team at a time when his state needed him.
“He enjoyed immediate success and his series win in 2021, which included record scorelines in Townsville and Brisbane, will go down in NSW Blues history.
