After five years, three trials, an appeal and nine months in prison, Hayne was in April found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at her Newcastle home in 2018.

He has now been sentenced to a maximum of 4 years and 9 months in jail and will be eligible for parole on May 6, 2025, due to time already served.

“He was very stony-faced on the video screen as the sentence was handed down,” 2GB court reporter, Josh Bryant told Deborah Knight.
