A police operation has taken place in Marrickville after two men were injured in a public shooting, with one currently in a critical condition.

Police have set up a crime scene which will be examined by specialist forensic officers.

“An investigation is underway after two men were injured following a public place shooting in Sydney’s Inner West this afternoon,” a police statement read.

“About 1.50pm (Friday 7 July 2023), emergency services were called to a business on Marrickville Road, Marrickville, after reports shots had been fired.

“Officers from Inner West Police Area Command arrived a short time later, locating two men suffering gunshot wounds.

“Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital for treatment.

“One man is believed to be in a critical condition, while the other is believed to be in a stable condition.”

Two burnt-out cars in the area have been discovered, while inquiries are also being made about a white Toyota Camry with registration DMM 59H, seen leaving the location of the shooting.
