‘Thumping win’ for voluntary assisted dying in NSW
Voluntary assisted dying legislation has passed its first hurdle in the NSW Parliament, passing through the lower house.
The legislation passed with an overwhelming majority, 52 votes to 32.
2GB senior reporter Clinton Maynard told Deborah Knight in the last 24 hours, lower house MPs had to review 167 amendments to the bill.
“All those amendments have now been dealt with, and it’s been a thumping win for the supporters of voluntary assisted dying.
“There will be an inquiry that’s held over summer … it will then go to the upper house early in the new year for a debate.”
