Tim Paine takes indefinite leave of absence from all forms of cricket
Cricket Tasmania have released a statement announcing former Test cricket captain Tim Paine will leave cricket “for the foreseeable future”.
Paine resigned from the leadership of the Australian team after explicit text messages and a photograph of his genitals were reported in the media.
The statement confirms Charlie Wakim will take his place in today’s Marsh One-Day Cup match against Western Australia.
Paine’s decision puts him in further doubt to appear for the Ashes series early next month.
Manager James Henderson confirmed the “mental health break” on social media, writing “we are extremely concerned for his and Bonnie’s well-being”.
