One dead, another critically injured after scaffolding collapse
A man has died and another has been critically injured after scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Sydney’s north.
Emergency services were called to the site on Epping Road at Macquarie Park at about 12:20pm after two men were trapped under eight floors of collapsed scaffolding.
An 18-year-old worker died at the scene.
A 39-year-old man was carried out of the site on a stretcher and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

Fire and Rescue were assisting the operation, with at least two helicopters and ten ambulance crews on the scene.

One worker says he heard a bang and felt the whole building vibrate, before rushing down to find two men buried under scaffolding. He tried to help pull bits of metal off them before emergency crews arrived at the Macquarie Park site @2GB873

NSW Ambulance Acting Superintendent Steve Vaughan tells Ben Fordham they were able to reach one of the workers and transport him to hospital.
“Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to assist the other gentleman due to the nature of his injuries and the location within the structure.”
