Businesses have demanded clearer communication from the state government after being taken by surprise with changes to restrictions.

Business NSW CEO Daniel Hunter told Deborah Knight neither the introduction of antigen testing and subsequent backflip, nor the decision to reinstate small weddings, was brought to the representative body prior to the announcements.

“The piece that was missing in this is the upfront consultation.

“What we need for business is certainty, so we need these roadmaps to be laid out very clearly so that businesses can prepare.

“We’re dealing with retailers that don’t know whether they should be buying stock for the Christmas rush period, for example.”
