Chappell’s stern warning to critics of Cook’s hook
Ian Chappell has jumped to the defence of Alastair Cook.
Cook was dismissed late on Day 3 of the First Ashes Test, caught at deep fine leg after attempting a hook shot off Josh Hazlewood.
But Chappelli told Macquarie Cricket anyone who queried the shot selection is “talking absolute, unadulterated rubbish”.
“He’s a natural hooker, he was dead unlucky to get caught down there,” he said.
“The idea of batting is to score runs.”
