Chris O’Keefe questions why the state government is trialing average-speed cameras
Chris O’Keefe is questioning if the data behind the state government’s decision to run an average-speed camera trial is significant enough to warrant the trial.
He points out as long as people drive vehicles, there are always going to be fatalities.
“Between 2018 and 2022, six people lost their lives on those stretches of road … over those four years, that is 0.00001 per cent … Is that really a significant enough problem to fine people using these average speed cameras?” he said.
