Chris Smith forces bureaucrats to backflip on Circular Quay decision

A decision to remove tourism ticket booths at Circular Quay has been halted.

Property New South Wales has lodged a DA with the City of Sydney to improve ease of access at East Circular Quay – but private operators feared businesses would dramatically decline if forced to remove their sales booths.

Chris Smith took up the cause, speaking with operators who have been left dumbstruck by the decision.

This morning Property Minister Victor Dominello joined Chris, attempting to shift responsibility for the decision, claiming he’d been misinformed.

“I was informed that things were okay, all the stakeholders were happy and that things could proceed and I assumed everything was okay.

“But when I heard Angela [Vithoulkas] on [your show] yesterday, I realised not everything’s right and we need to step in and sort something out.

“I reached out to Angela yesterday and said why don’t you and I get together and I’m sure between the two of us we can work something out.”

Chris Smith is adamant he will hold the minister to his promise.
