Circus meets opera for Il Trovatore extravaganza
The classic opera Il Trovatore has been reimagined through the lense of circus with a huge show hitting the stage at the Sydney Opera House.
The performance will feature acrobatics, fire breathers, dancers and giant LED screens.
Il Trovatore’s assistant director Shaun Rennie joined Deborah Knight on Afternoons to talk about how the reinvention helps broaden the appeal of classic opera.
“It opens up an amazing array of opportunity in terms of what you can do visually,” he said.
I think its really exciting to bring new elements in … to help engage younger audiences.
Il Trovatore is playing at the Opera House until July 30th.
