A bicycle shop owner has offered a word of caution to those hoping to buy their sons and daughters a bike for Christmas.

Cyclemax Crows Nest owner Jose Rodriguez told Ben Fordham supply shortages hit the business last year, and have only gotten worse.

Bicycles for teenagers and children are in especially short supply after so many kids took up bike-riding during lockdowns.

“It’s getting to a point where we just can’t fill orders, and there’s no ability to get a bike for basically six to eight [months], to sometimes a year away.

“I’m taking orders now for bikes in November [2022].”
