Commonwealth Games boss nervous about one thing ahead of opening ceremony
Commonwealth Games Chairman Peter Beattie admits he’s nervous ahead of Wednesday’s opening ceremony on the Gold Coast.
The former Queensland Premier tells Alan Jones forecast rain is the main thing weighing on his mind at the moment.
“I am a little. The weather worries me a bit.
“But frankly look a few showers are not going to disrupt us. They are not!
“It sends the grass greener.”
Mr Beattie also elaborates on syringes being found at the athletes’ village.
The Indian team has been cleared of doping speculation despite breaching a needle ban.
“The needles were tested, no drugs found, which is great.
“You can’t bring needles into the village unless you’veĀ got prior approval… there wasn’t approval.
“Good thing is, no drugs. But they brought a needle in and that’s against the rules.”
