Conviction for 1988 murder of Scott Johnson quashed
A man jailed for the 1988 murder of Scott Johnson has had his conviction quashed by the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal.
Scott Phillip White was sentenced to a maximum 12 years and seven months’ jail in May.
He sensationally declared he was guilty while being arraigned as a formality during a pre-trial hearing in the NSW Supreme Court in January.
White lodged an appeal against the conviction, arguing he should have been allowed to reverse his plea.
He will face trial at a later date.
